Twitter is a microblogging service where people answer the question “What are you doing?” via 140-character messages from their cellphone, laptop or desktop. Many companies have rapidly adopted Twitter as a way to communicate directly with their customers.
Hospitals are generally on the slower side of using the newer tools of information technology but 2 of the top 4 U.S. hospitals according to the US News & World Report are already on Twitter:
